$76,000 in funding for the Lubovitch Centre

November 29, 2010

The office of Councillor Orlikow is pleased to announce the funding of $76,000 to the Lubovitch Centre.

On November 16, 2010, Councillor Orlikow approved a Community Incentive Grant of $25,000 in support of the Lubovitch Centre in addition to a $51,000 grant from the Land Dedication Grants in March, 2010.   This brings the total commitment from the office of Councillor Orlikow to $76,000. Further community improvements include the added benefits to the Lubovitch Centre associated with the upgrading of Joe Malone Park, including walking paths and a new play structure for the children right next door to the centre.   “I support the project for the value the Centre provides, both to the community and to Winnipeg’s rich cultural heritage.” stated Councillor Orlikow when asked for the reason he was providing the funding.   “I will work with the community to lobby the City of Winnipeg to provide further funding to this wonderful centre.  The $75,000 has come exclusively from Ward grants however the scope of this project and its contribution to Winnipeg’s cultural landscape requires that the City of Winnipeg also contribute.
