Changes to Cyclist/ Pedestrian Crossing Omand's Creek Park

Baffles are being installed on either side of the railroad tracks at the south west corner of Omand’s Creek Park. The changes being made are a Transport Canada requirement to improve safety at the rail crossing.




Transport Canada necessitates where paths cross railroad tracks there has to be a “buffer” of some kind to slow pedestrians or cyclists from speeding over the tracks, and to make them aware that railroad tracks are ahead. This also makes the train engineer aware of possibly stops so no one gets hurt.
