The Forgotten History of Rooster Town, A Talk by Prof. Evelyn Peters

Oct 13, 2016

Rooster Town was a Metis community in South Winnipeg, and families had lived in the

Grant Park area since 1901. In the 1950's, the last residents were evicted from their

homes by the City of Winnipeg, to allow for the building of the Grant Park Shopping

Centre. Dr. Peters has studied the community and challenges the myths and distortions

created by news reports of that time.

Talk begins at 1:15 p.m., at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey at Harrow.

Location: Harrow United Church

Street: 955 Mulvey Ave.
