The Winnipeg Police Board By-law requires a minimum of two community consultations each year. Three meetings scheduled for 2016:
Millennium Library, Carol Shields Auditorium, 251 Donald St.
May 5 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Neeginan Centre, 181 Higgins Ave.
May 11 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre, 430 Langside St.
June 8 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Councillor Scott Gillingham, Chair of the Winnipeg Police Board, and Chief Devon Clunis of the Winnipeg Police Service will make short presentations and answer questions. Attendees will be invited to fill out a comment form or join a discussion group to provide their input on the community safety and policing issues that matter most to them.
These meetings are important for the Board because they provide community input that informs the priorities set for the Winnipeg Police Service. The Board has a legislated mandate to ensure police services in Winnipeg are delivered in a manner consistent with community needs, values and expectations. This annual consultation process allows members to connect with citizens to understand what they need and expect from police.
