Arbor Day 2014

May 31, 2014 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Kildonan Park (next to Rainbow Stage) Saturday, May 31, 2014 10:00 am – 3:30 pm Arbor Day is a free, fun-filled day to celebrate our urban forest and the professionals who help care for it. Trees Winnipeg (then known as Coalition to Save the Elms) held the first official Arbor Day celebration at Assiniboine Park in 2003. Trees Winnipeg coordinates this event with the help of the City of Winnipeg, and local ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) volunteers. Arbor Day rotates around the city every year; but you can count on all the same great attractions! · Children’s tree climbing, zip-line, and bucket-truck rides are the top attraction – but don’t let the kids have all the fun – we have adult harnesses too! · Book readings by local children’s authors · Make your own souvenir at the craft tent! · Get your school in on our poster competition and your artwork could be on the official Arbor Day t-shirts! · Be an arborist for a day! Learn more about the industry, training, and careers. · Ask an Arborist! Get free professional advice on tree care and services · Need a new addition to your yard? Free trees while supplies last!
